When comparing NP silicone sealant exterior grade with polyurethane for outdoor jobs, silicone wins on long-term weatherability. Neutral-cure silicone resists UV radiation, ozone, and temperature swings from -50℃ to +150℃ without cracking or yellowing. Polyurethane offers good initial adhesion and paintability but degrades faster under direct sunlight. For exterior facades, curtain walls, and roofing joints that must perform through 5–10 year warranty cycles, a neutral-cure silicone sealant is the more dependable sealing material choice.
NP is short for one-part RTV silicone, which cures naturally and can be vulcanized at room temperature. When acetoxy silicones cure, they give off acetic acid. The neutral-cure recipe works with an oxime or alkoxy process. This means that it doesn't react chemically with metal that has been handled, aluminum frames, or natural stone. Acid-cure products would react chemically with those things. It turns into a long-lasting rubber that is 30 Shore A hard, has a tensile strength of 0.7 MPa, and can move ±25% when tested according to GB 13477 and ASTM C920.
Ocean, building, and car businesses all use polyurethane sealant, which is an organic polymer. It's very strong and sticks well to metal, concrete, and wood. It can also be painted, which can be useful for some indoor or below-grade uses. On the other hand, UV light breaks down its cellular backbone over time. As per tests by the business world, polyurethane seals begin to chalk after around 1,000 to 1,500 hours of UV exposure. On the other hand, silicone is said to stay stable for more than 3,000 hours of water damage.
Polyurethane is good for painting the sealed joint in parking decks, shady expansion joints, and other places. On the other hand, NP silicone sealant exterior grade is used for stone cladding, glass curtain walls, and any joint that is in direct sunlight all year. When building experts promise that a wall will last for five years or more, they usually call for neutral-cure silicone. This is because data from the field shows that it stays flexible and sticky for a long time after polyurethane joints shrink and break.
This is where the two materials are not at all the same. The manmade polysiloxane backbone of silicone doesn't break down when it comes in contact with UV light or ozone. Tests that run faster than nature show that silicone keeps its color, shine, and flexibility for at least 3,000 hours.
There is an organic chain in polyurethane that goes through photo-oxidation. This turns it yellow, makes the surface chalky, and breaks it down over time. For projects that will last a long time, silicone is the only choice in places with a lot of UV light, like the Middle East, Australia, or the US sun-belt states.
Because of these traits, silicone is the best material for parts that need to be heated and cooled over and over again without being changed.
GB 13477 says that Jiaobao's NP silicone mixture has less than 80 g/L of VOC, which means it meets the indoor air quality guidelines for LEED. There are often more solvents and isocyanate chemicals in polyurethane sealants, so they need to be treated with extra care when they are being used on-site. While silicone costs a bit more at first, it saves money in the long run because it doesn't need to be re-sealed as often. The building protection lasts for ten years. If you seal a joint again every three years with polyurethane, it costs more than if you just use silicone once and leave it alone.
A sealant will last longer if you prepare the surface well. First, clean the joint of any grease, dust, or old glue that is still there. Use isopropyl alcohol or a cleaner that the maker says is safe on metal and glass. Make sure that the surface of weak things like stone or concrete is completely dry. Most of the time, adhesive failure is caused by water getting stuck under the bead. Before dispensing, run masking tape along the edges of the joints to make them look clean and professional.
Jiaobao NP silicone sealant exterior grade should be used when it's between 5 and 40 degrees Celsius and less than 85% humidity. In 30 minutes at 25°C and 50% RH, the product on the surface stops sticking, so tooling needs to be done right away. When you fill the gap, make one continuous pass and press the caulk firmly against both sides. Make a curve in the surface with a wet scraper. This will move the water away from the joint. As the skin grows quickly, it can trap air. So, don't put it on in the middle of the day in direct sunlight on hot metal surfaces.
Most of the time, it takes 7–14 days for the body to fully heal. When there is a lot of wetness, things cure faster. You should wait longer before putting water or another force on the joint if it's cold or dry. It means that the surface was probably dirty or not right if adhesion failure happens at the edge of the base instead of cohesive failure. Clean the surface again and try a small bead before going on to the full joint. Since silicone doesn't stick to itself, the old silicone must be completely removed before the new silicone is put on.
If you're looking for NP silicone sealant exterior grade, make sure the company can prove that it meets the standards set by ASTM C920 (Type S, Grade NS, Class 25 or 50) and ISO 11600 (F/G 25LM). Check for reports of tests that show more than 3,000 hours of fake aging caused by fast weathering. Jiaobao has been around since 2013 and has been in business for over 13 years. They are ISO and CE certified, and if you ask, they can give you full technical datasheets, age test results, and batch quality certificates.
The item is sold on Jiaobao in 300 ml cartridges and 600 ml sausage packs. You can get it in black, white, gray, or any other color that goes with your window system. Manufacturers or engineering firms can use OEM or ODM production to make products with their own labels if they need to.
One to two weeks is the usual wait time for production. You can ship to the US, the Middle East, Australia, and Africa by land or sea. Before you make a big order, you can place a sample order. This will help with testing on your own and getting client approval.
In the first year, if there are any quality issues, you can either get your money back or a new product. Jiaobao's expert team helps buyers by going over specs, making sure substrates work with each other, and giving them tips on how to use the products on-site. You can read about all of the products on shandongjiaobao.com, or you can email the team at dorashen@cnjiaobao.com to get samples, prices, or personalized project-specific help.
When companies that used to use polyurethane switched to neutral-cure silicone, they got fewer guarantee calls in the first three years. Field binding tests with ASTM C1521—in which a solid bead is pulled back 180 degrees—confirm that Jiaobao's product has patterns of cohesive failure. The binder link is stronger than the base bond. For builders to fight warranty claims, they need to show building owners this.
They make NP silicone sealant exterior grade that meets ISO 11600, ASTM C920, and GB 13477 standards. This means it can be used in North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region. LEED projects can use a low VOC mix. It doesn't stain, so ASTM C1248 says it's safe for natural stone and smooth granite cladding, where oil movement would ruin the look for good.
It's just as important for procurement managers in charge of big outdoor cladding projects that the material stays the same from batch to batch as it was at the start. Because Jiaobao has a well-developed production method and quality control system, their products are always the same. Compared to European or American brands of silicone, this one is cheaper and has been tested and proven to work. This gives contractors a good national option that they can show project owners and get full paperwork support for.
When it comes to long-term outdoor sealing, NP silicone sealant exterior grade is better than polyurethane in every way: it is more resistant to UV light, stays stable at different temperatures, can handle joint movement, and works better with substrates. When the walls next to each other inside are painted or covered, polyurethane can be used.
But silicone is the standard for outdoor walls, curtain walls, and roofs that are exposed to the weather every day. Jiaobao's neutral-cure exterior silicone is certified, tested, and priced reasonably. It can be bought by contractors and wholesalers. Since 2001, the business has been making rubber and provides full customer service after the sale.
Good NP silicone sealant exterior grade can stick and stretch for at least 10 years if used right on a clean, ready surface. Jiaobao's product has been tested to meet the 5–10 year warranty requirements that are common in commercial facade contracts. It has been through accelerated aging tests to back it up.
Not at all. Rubber sealants don't let paint stick to them. You should use polyurethane or a paintable liquid sealer on the joint finish if you want to paint it. When it comes to uncovered facade parts that need to match colors, Jiaobao's plant can make them in white, black, gray, or any other color you want.
Yes. A neutral fix means that no acid waste is released during the healing process. In other words, the sealant won't damage or etch natural stone, dissolve aluminum, or etch or stain metals that are covered. These are all common ways that acetoxy silicone fails on delicate surfaces.
Parts of joints can move by up to 25% (Class 25 of ASTM C920) and up to 50% (Class 50). As long as the joints are normal and only expand a little when the temperature changes, Class 25 is fine. Class 50 sealant makes big curtain wall panels or expansion joints that move around a lot safer.
Jiaobao's method works the same way at -50°C to +150°C. Apply in the cooler morning hours so you have time to set up your tools. Also, make sure the surface of the substrate is not warmer than 40℃ when you apply.
Your facade's guarantee is based on the sealant that's behind it. It is safe to buy NP silicone sealant exterior grade from Jiaobao. For big sales, you have to wait one to two weeks.
